MMGI BRAND Rolling Stone PH

Defining Culture, Disrupting Norms

Founded in San Francisco in 1967 by Jann Wenner and Ralph Gleason, Rolling Stone quickly became a global authority on music, politics, and culture. With editions in over a dozen countries, the Philippines marks the 19th international edition—bringing the brand’s legacy of sharp journalism and cultural relevance to a new audience.

Rolling Stone Philippines builds on this foundation by spotlighting voices that shape the Filipino experience—from music and film to politics and social change. Across print, digital, social, and live platforms, it delivers stories with the same edge and urgency that defined the original.

Its digital debut was held in December 2023 with A Night of Icons at The Peninsula Manila. Headlined by rock legends Razorback, the evening celebrated the launch of the website, which premiered with original features on figures such as Senator Risa Hontiveros and Ely Buendia. The event gathered artists, advocates, and cultural leaders, marking Rolling Stone’s entrance into the Philippine creative and media landscape.

On March 21, 2025, the brand introduced its premiere print issue with Rolling Stone LIVE!—a full-day experience at the Maybank Performing Arts Theatre in Bonifacio Global City. The inaugural issue unveiled three powerful covers: The Eraserheads, John Lloyd Cruz, and Maria Ressa. Panels throughout the day explored the intersections of storytelling across journalism, advertising, sports, film, and music.

Brought to the country through a partnership between Penske Media Corporation and Modern Media Group Inc., Rolling Stone Philippines continues the brand’s tradition of shaping conversations and redefining what it means to document culture today.

Uncovering Truths that Matter

Rolling Stone Philippines pushes cultural conversations forward with clarity, courage, and an unflinching editorial voice. It delivers stories that go beyond what’s trending—examining what they reveal, what they disrupt, and what they mean within the broader cultural landscape, challenging assumptions and provoking dialogue.

The Daniel Padilla issue, on the surface, is a nod to the guilty pleasure of showbiz gossip. But through the lens of Rolling Stone Philippines, it becomes something far more incisive—an exploration of fame’s emotional toll, the machinery of public expectation, and an artist’s quiet resolve to remain authentic. It’s a characteristically bold move, and one that reflects the brand’s essence: unafraid to question norms, uninterested in spectacle, and driven to tell stories with depth, edge, and cultural weight.
